ok

So far over the course of the book the author has been talking mainly about how life is for people who live in the desert, and how much they must do just to hang on. For the most part the book has been teaching me about how people in other countries live their lives, and I think that this is very important to know. Know that I know what life is in third world countries I am very thankful for all the things that i have and the house that I live in.

outside reading project

During the part of the book i just finished Sayeed met this girl who he falls in love with, but the unfortunate thing is that he lives no where near her and he fears that if he invites her over she will see how his lifestyle is. Sayeed lives in a one room hut made up of cardboard boxes and has pretty much no belongings, so that is why he doesnt want to invite the girl he just met to his house. When Sayeed isnt working or getting ladies he is playing with his neighbors kids because he invisions someday he will have kids just like them.

More Mirage

Since i last posted I have learned a lot more about Sayeed from his job to his daily routine. I have learned that Sayeed must wake up and pray with the other men in his village every morning before he prepares himself for work. Sayeed must also work a very hard and demanding day at the hospital just to have enough money for food and rent. I know now what Sayeed has to do everyday just to hang on by a thread.

The other day I read more of my book, Mirage, and it was very interesting because I found out more interesting things about the culture and the daily life of the main character, Sayeed. I found out that he wakes up everyday to pray with the rest of the men in his village and then he makes himself a lunch. Soon afterwards he starts on his way to the city, and negotiates the price of a ride to the city with anyone who is willing to give him a ride. Once he arrives at his place of work, the hospital, he has to clock in and get straight to work. The only sad part about this section is that it reveals how poor the country is because they have a hospital that can only hold 20 people at a time. To make that even worse there is a foundation right next to the current hospital that was supposed to be a new much better one, but unfortunately the contractors went bankrupt and the construction had to stop. That is all that I found out while reading this time.

so far i havent read any more of my book because ive been too busy studying for my euro test and working on the essay and stuff for In The Time Of The Butterflies. However i plan on reading some more in the next couple of days because i think i will have some time, and by then the essay will be over with. I predict that in the book Sayeed will introduce us to the hospital that he works at and the daily rutine he goes through while he works at the hospital.

Book

So far I have only read 15 pages of my book Mirage because I dont have a lot of time to read, and I dont find it very interesting so far. During the first 15 pages I have found it to be very informative because it gives details of how life is out in the middle east, with little to no money. They have talked about how he lives in a little one room hut outside of the city, and how he barely has enough food to keep him alive. The thing that I found to be the most interesting is the fact that he isnt the only person who lives in a tiny little hut, but he is one of thousands because most of the people there are way below the poverty line.

Mirage

For my outside reading I chose to read the book Mirage by Bandula Chandrarantna. I chose to read this book because it was over 200 pages long, and it was written by an author from the Middle East. Also I think that this book will be pretty good because it will show me what life is like for people who dont have a lot of money, and what its like living on the street. The final reason why I chose this book is because i felt like it was the best book that was available at the time, and I think that i will enjoy the book.
